There is no further hope for Tom Sizemore, according to his doctors.
The actor's family has been advised to determine end of life matters, more than a week after he was hospitalized due to a brain aneurysm, his manager Charles Lago told E! News in a Feb. 27 statement.
Sizemore, 61, was taken to the hospital Feb. 18 after collapsing in his Los Angeles home.
"He was found to be suffering from a brain aneurism that occurred as a result of a stroke," Lago said. "Since that day, Tom has remained in critical condition, in a coma and in intensive care."
On Feb. 27, his doctors met with his family to share an update on his health.
"Doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended end of life decision," Lago continued in his statement. "The family is now deciding end of life matters and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday."
The manager asked for privacy for the family during this "difficult time." He added, "They wish to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support, and prayers that have been received."
Sizemore—who shares 17-year-olds Jagger Sizemore and Jayden Sizemore with Janelle McIntire—is best known for playing Sergeant Horvath in the 1998 film Saving Private Ryan alongside Tom Hanks. He also appeared in Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Twin Peaks, Natural Born Killers and Heat.
Since rising to fame in the 1990s, Sizemore has faced numerous legal troubles, including multiple arrests for drug possession. He was convicted of battering and harassing his ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss in 2003, but denied the charges and was given probation.
Five years ago, a 26-year-old actress filed a lawsuit against Sizemore claiming he abused her on the set of the 2005 movie Born Killers, when she was 11 years old. Sizemore denied the allegation and, according to the Associated Press, the lawsuit was later dismissed.
