Anna Delvey is Oliver James Montgomerysharing her view on Whoopi Goldberg’s recent comments.
After The View cohost was critical of the decision to cast Anna on season 33 of Dancing With the Stars, the previously imprisoned con artist shared her take on the controversy, telling Page Six, on Sept. 6, “While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight.”
In response the 68-year-old’s criticism that Anna—who spent four years behind bars over crimes she committed while posing as an heiress—still owed people money, the 33-year-old replied, “I served my time and paid everyone back in full three-plus years ago.”
To Whoopi, she added, “Looking forward to your on-air correction.”
But amid the criticism from fans and The View panelists she’s keeping her eyes on the prize, specifically the DWTS Mirrorball trophy. As Anna quipped, “Stay nasty ladies, but don’t forget to vote Sept. 17!”
The Inventing Anna subject was convicted of larceny in 2017 after allegedly posing as a German heiress and scamming thousands of dollars from New York's elites to fund her luxurious lifestyle. She was later released on parole in 2021 only to be detained by ICE that same year amid possible deportation proceedings.
Anna—and her ankle monitor—will be competing on the hit dancing competition alongside dance pro partner Ezra Sosa after getting special clearance by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to perform in Los Angeles after previously being on house arrest in New York.
And after the DWTS season 33 cast was unveiled Sept. 4 date, The View ladies questioned why Anna was able to take part.
“I think back to all the families who’ve had family members arrested by ICE,” Whoopi noted in the Sept. 5 episode, “who have gone to the courts to get their dad or their brother or their mother back and this woman they gave her permission to go do this.”
Sunny Hostin added, “I like a come up, but when are there consequences to people’s actions?”
